We have many categories that will be awarded this year. Please view the 9 categories below. We will be presenting Recognition Awards, so let us know what you have accomplished this year. We are also presenting awards to the "Best of the Best", so nominate a peer that you know is deserving of this honor!
Submit a paragraph explaining the attributes of a nominated program. It could include information such as: becoming NAEYC Accredited, becoming Quality Rated, receiving another type of recognition, having long-term teachers, employing staff with substantial educational/experience backgrounds, involving parents/families, including children with disabilities or dual language learners, or engaging staff in extracurricular or community activities.
Submit a paragraph explaining the attributes of a nominated teacher. The Teacher of the Year should be someone who exemplifies some of the following characteristics: utilizes developmentally appropriate practices with the children, individualizes care, has excellent interactions with the children, helps to develop the individual child based upon knowledge of child development, engages the children in different activities each day, is committed to professional development, and goes above and beyond the call of duty. This teacher should be a role model to others, a team player, and an enthusiastic, nurturing caregiver with a winning personality.
Submit a paragraph explaining the attributes of a nominated director. The Director of the Year should be someone who exemplifies some of the following characteristics: an outstanding leader, a supporter of the community, a collaborator/partner with different agencies, and an advocate for all children. The director should strive for: continuous quality improvement, developing a good working environment that fosters good morale and individual success, building relationships with families, including family engagement activities, and create an open and welcoming experience for children with special needs and dual language learners.
Submit a paragraph explaining how your community partner/agency/entity helps to make a difference in your program by making significant contributions through their time, actions, talents, and dedication without pay (outside any volunteer work done for their employer).
Submit personal profile page from the GaPDS to verify years of service if it is the decade anniversary of work in the field. To be recognized at the ceremony years of service must be verified prior to ceremony.
10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 year recognition
Others will be recognized for continuous years of work in the field by standing up.
(Could be awarded to a teacher assistant, teacher aide, third person, floaters, bus driver/monitor, cook, janitor, etc.).
Submit a paragraph explaining the attributes of a nominated person. This support staff member should be someone who realizes the importance of their position as the one who touches the lives of most of the children in the center and contributes to the center as a whole. Although they do not work in the classrooms, they develop relationships with the children and go the extra mile to make each child feel special.
(Could be awarded to a person or entity who falls into this category; parent, Granny, student, retired educator, etc.).
Submit a paragraph explaining the attributes of a nominated volunteer. The Volunteer of the Year should be someone who spends time giving generously to others and supporting the program.
(Could be awarded to staff of any of the following agencies: DECAL, CCR&R, Babies Can’t Wait, BftS Licensing Consultant, Pre-K Consultant or any other community organization that works with the program).
Submit copy of certificate/degree in Early Childhood Education that was awarded after January 1, 2017 or a copy of individual’s profile page from the GaPDS for verification.
* Directors: Studies in Business or related field are allowed.
This year as a special addition to our annual conference AGC will be hosting an ECE Community Awards Ceremony. We will be honoring ECE Teachers, Directors, Programs, Support Staff and a host of others.
We hope that your class will join in on the fun by entering a centerpiece that will be displayed during our awards ceremony and conference.
The entry will be judge by our community partners. The 1st place entry will win an Ice Cream Party for their classroom.
